Everyone Seems To Be Talking About The HCG Diet Program

By Riley T. Simonis

The HCG diet is a low-calorie diet helped by supplemental drops. On a low calorie diet, the body burns up the day's calorie intake faster and begins to burn fat as a source of fuel instead. While a low calorie diet alone would produce similar results, the supplement used in the diet helps to ensure that muscle mass is maintained and just fat is lost. HCG drops help in easing any negative side effects, such as irritability or fatigue normally associated with low-calorie diets. The HCG diet overall performs as a method of resetting the way the body handles excess fat and burns calories. The implication phase, the training of the metabolism and the maintenance phase are the three stages included in the special diet plan.

The special diet begins with a high calorie intake while beginning use of the HCG drops supplement. This process helps the body to reset its natural fat regulating system to burn more calories and fat when the low calorie diet is initiated. The period of low-calorie intake in the diet is helped by the initial high-calorie phase as it decreases excess hunger throughout the diet process. During the second part of the special diet, the body is beginning to use stored fat as fuel and the initiation of a low-calorie diet will help to ensure that it continues to do so.

The final phase of the diet, known as the maintenance stage, begins when the drops have successfully altered the body's metabolism. Calorie intake begins to increase back to regular levels, and the use of formula is no longer necessary in the maintenance stage of the special diet.

The increase in calorie intake should be done slowly as the restructured fat-handling process adjusts to a higher calorie intake. During the maintenance phase of the diet, weight needs to be monitored closely to confirm that the body's restructured metabolism is preserved throughout the calorie increase.

With the low-calorie intake during the diet plan, only light exercise is recommended for the physical activity portion of the diet. Heavy exercise could cause fatigue and starvation as the body uses the few calories it has for energy faster. The program has no known side effects and, when used by females, the hormones in the drops have no effect on the menstrual cycle. Pregnant women are not advised to use the program, as they are likely to see little to no results because of higher calorie intakes necessary for nourishment during pregnancy.
